Just finished watching State of Origin... which Queensland won....AGAIN. Thats six years in a row which means I am teaching kids who cannot remember the last time NSW won. Final game also lacked the intensity of contest that was present in the first two encounters.
It is, however, good to see a champion go out a winner. Darren Lockyer proved himself a champion over a long career where he was able to adapt his game as his physical abilities changed. One of those players that actually has the head that would have seen him play even longer if the game were not so physically demanding. Also a respectful competitor and someone you can point to when showing a young footballer how to conduct themselves on the field.
